Title: CAU Counselor

Description:

This position requires exceptional attention to details, provides daily phone coverage, accept referrals, assist with coordinating and finalizing placement decisions with Case Management Organizations (CMOs), act as a liaison, between CMO’s and the protective investigative unit for case assignment, between the CMOs and DJJ. This position provides final funding authorization for all change of placements and initial placements in licensed care. The Case Assignment Unit (CAU) Counselor will be directly responsible for accurate entry into the CAU database and providing authorizations to all appropriate parties. On call 10 weeks out of the year including holidays and more if required. CAU Counselor reports to the Assistant Director of Operations.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the CPI follows the DCF/FSMO working agreement;
  • Completes the Intake Referral form based on the information provided by the referral source;
  • Follows up with the Protective Investigations Units to obtain missing or incomplete documentation;
  • Assigns cases according to the intake rotation to the Case Management Organizations (CMOs);
  • Enters data accurately into the Case Assignment Unit (CAU) database, FSFN, and COBRIS;
  • Reviews documentation on file at time of case referral to services;
  • Ensures accuracy of the CAU tracking system through quality reviews weekly & provides reports to Assistant Director of Operations;
  • Schedules the Initial Case Conference staffings;
  • Maintains accurate rotation for the CMOs working closely with the CAU team and establishes and maintains data systems as necessary to track assignment of cases;
  • Authorizes or denies child movements within the system based on policies and procedures;
  • Assist in facility monitoring;
  • Tracks and schedules on suitability appointments and reports;
